Udaipur was established in 1568 by Maharana Udai Singh II and is the subject of numerous stories. After Mughal Emperor Akbar attacked his citadel, Chittorgarh, Udai Singh created this city. It is said that a spiritual man gave Udai Singh the recommendation to establish his capital here while he was contemplating on a hill near Pichola Lake. Sajjangarh Palace

The 18th century Summer Resort or the Monsoon Palace of the Maharajas, Sajjangarh Monsoon Palace is set atop a hill overlooking the Fateh Sagar Lake. Built by its namesake Maharana Sajjan Singh in 1884, Sajjangarh Fort lies about 5 km to the west of Udaipur city in Rajasthan, India. The fort today stands as a small palace with scenic surroundings that can be approached both by car and boat. Sajjangarh Fort near Udaipur is situated on a hill top, at a height of 3100 feet above sea level, and about 1100 feet above the Fateh Sagar Lake. The palaces of the fort look like a tiara on the head of a rocky hill, the one atop which the fort stands majestically.

Badi Lake

Badi Lake is located in the village of Badi, around 12km from the city of Udaipur. The best way to reach the lake from Udaipur is to rent a taxi/tuk tuk driver for the day. We recommend getting a group of people together and negotiating a price you’re all happy to split. There’s also a parking area at the entrance to Badi Lake, where the driver can pay 20 Rupees to wait for you.If you’re looking to trek to the top of the Bahubali Hill, we recommend following google maps to ‘Sunset Point’ and starting from there. The trek is not too strenuous and takes roughly 20-30 minutes. However it is a little rough/rocky, so may not be suitable for children.

Saheliyon ki Bari in Udaipur recreates regal grandeur as you walk along marble pathways flanked by life size marble sculptures of elephants and lions spurting water into exotic water pools. Fateh Sagar

A lovely lake, Fateh Sagar Lake is encircled by hills and forests. This man-made lake, which is located north of Lake Pichola, was built in 1678 AD by Maharana Jai Singh. The earthen bund (dam) was later replaced during the reign of Maharana Fateh Singh (1884–1930 AD), after it was destroyed by floodwaters. To honour the Duke of Connaught’s visit, the Maharana constructed Connaught Dam, and the lake was given the new name Fateh Sagar Lake. One of Udaipur’s four lakes, Fateh Sagar Lake, has three little islands in it. The third island is home to the Udaipur Palace, while the second island features a public park and a stunning water-jet fountain.
